On 25th August 2001 the music world mourned as we lost rising star of the moment Aaliyah. Her life was tragically cut short when her private jet crashed after take off, after she completed filming her music video 'Rock the Boat' in the Bahamas.
Aaliyah's signature urban sound included heavy hard hip hop beats softened over with her smooth soulful vocals. She has influenced many popular artists of today such as Drake who has mentioned his love for the late singer, as well as Beyonce, Rihanna, Jessie J, Keyshia Cole, Nicki Minaj and many more.
