The American Music Awards were held on the 24th November 2013 in LA. With a high calibre turnout, the show boast performances from all the main musical attractions of the last few months such as Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande and Katy Perry.
Each performance differed from the previous which allowed for a variety of entertainment at the awards show. Jennifer Lopez sang in Spanish in ode to Cuban singer Celia Cruz and took the breath of the audience away with her sparkly outfit changes and saucy salsa moves with ferocious lifts and spins. A true performer.
Rihanna surprised me with her vocal range and stage command performing Diamonds before accepting the first Icon Award. She has definitely improved since she first started and has achieved superstar status in a short time so deserves recognition for that.
Justin Timberlake was by far, for me, the best of the night. An absolutely amazing performance of his album track Drink You Away with his Tennessee band behind him. It gave a real old school, almost improvised feel, allowing the audience to feel involved. Justin's singing was so organic it was so good to watch. One of his best performances to date, proving why he is still the main man in music today.
