TV Treats of 2013

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, NETFLIX
A surprise hit, this comedy-drama focuses on a group of characters in a female prison who are not just criminals but three-dimensional people in unfortunate circumstances. You take the programme for what it is at the beginning but you quickly realise that there are layers to this quirky piece which keeps the audience intrigued.

SCANDAL HITTING ITS STRIDE - OLITZ!
My absolute favourite show of the moment Scandal is making waves in a big way and the plotlines are only getting bigger and better. With an average of 10 million viewers in the US alone, Scandal is now a mega hit in its third season. Viewers can't get enough of Olivia and Fitz - realising that they are both as fractured as each other. The acting is superb here from all angles. Well done, Shonda.

GOGGLEBOX
This show came out of nowhere with an original although seemingly dull premise - watching other people watch tv - but the structure works well for some reason. The idea of hearing what genuine people have to say about shows on tv, good and bad, is hilarious because their opinions usually match our own!

BREAKING BAD, FINAL SEASON
And what a season it was. This is great tv at its finest. The way the plot played out in the last eight episodes of this tv masterpiece was creative and cleverly connected. Bryan Cranston has cemented himself as one of the greatest small screen actors around, soon to be seen on the big screen and deservedly so. Aaron Paul was also an excellent sidekick giving the most emotionally intense final scene of the series. Sad to see this series go.
